See answer: The appearance of the urethral opening (meatus) does vary amongst individuals. If irritated or inflamed for any reason such as from infection (bacterial, fungal, std), trauma, vigorous/prolonged sexual activity, or sensitivity to a chemical allergen (latex, spermicidal, lubricant, fragrance, soap, etc), urethra will be more swollen, prominent, and reddened. Urethral prolapse or caruncle also.
