A member asked:

Is sepsis in the body caused by leukemia or herpes simplex virus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sepsis: Is the presence of overwhelming inflammation in the body due to infection either direct from the infection when there is bacteremia or just due to the inflammatory process. Leukemia leads to infection due to depressed immunity to infection. Herpes on its own can cause sepsis, not very common but can in times of depressed immunity.
