Periods are crazy: You likely were stressed out after having unprotected sex. Stress can cause hormones to do unexpected things. Women can tell they're stressed if they are having irregular periods--especially if they are usually regular. The change in timing can also have been caused by the plan b. No worries, it'll get back on track...Just always use a condom, and you'll have less to worry about.

Within 72 hours: You must use ir within 72 hours of the episode of unprotected intercourse. Even then it is only 75% effective so you must take a pregnancy test if you are late with your period.

Can you take the Plan B one step pill while breastfeeding?

Possibly: The "official" literature for Plan B states that the safety of the medication during breastfeeding is unknown for the breastfeeding infant. It is likely that some of the medication is found in breast milk so the infant will likely have ingested some during breastfeeding if Plan B is taken.

Plan B: Is better if taken within 3 days, it has moderate efficacy if taken within 5 days. If you are not having symptoms (pain, fever, excessive bleeding) you may not need to go to er. If you miss menses, do home pregnancy test. If positive then see gyn. If negative then you are not pregnant. Keep period dairy. If in doubt see your doctor or gyn.

Flow: The character, quantity, duration of menstrual flow can vary cycle to cycle. What you describe could be entirely normal.
