Minor procedure: It's done in the doctor's office. The doctor will inject local anesthetic into the skin next to the nexplanon; once it is numb, then he or she will make a small incision with a scalpel through the skin, then use a small sterile surgical clamp to reach under the skin, grasp the Nexplanon and pull it out through the skin incision. Then a steristrip is placed over the incision with a gauze and wrappe.
