Herpes: Antiviral tablets are given as treatment for herpes. They are very effective in decreasing the shedding of virus and decreasing the duration of infection. In spite of treatment herpes virus in most cases persists in nerve cells in body and can get reactivated and can cause recurrence. If someone gets recurrent herpes , antiviral medications can be given to prevent recurrence .

STI: The virus stays in the body and flares time to time. Acyclovir helps o treat the eruption but total eradication is difficult
