Pills and periods: Most brands of pills have three weeks of hormones followed by 1 week of a hormone free pill. Menstrual cycles come at the end of the pack and then stop as you are getting started on the next pack. If you are having bleeding at other times this is called breakthrough bleeding. It is annoying but not harmful.
