A member asked:

How many people from us go abroad for fertility treatment now?

Don't know: I don't think anyone is keeping statistics. However, foreign clinics especially in India are increasing in numbers and size. Treatment cycles are less expensive but the cost of travel and the time off work may make it just as costly as in the US. There are not as many rules and guidelines in other countries so you may not find the same quality of care.

Unknown: People travel to India for gestational surrogacy as it can cost $40-80,000 in the US. IVF is more efficient in the US and the cost of traveling may not make it worth it. Fertility medications, like many other prescriptions, can be a lot cheaper abroad and thus patients order them online or buy them abroad. Many from Europe travel to the US for increased options or improved outcomes.
