Released: Glycogen is complex carbohydrate storage that is broken down in your body and released as 'simple carbohydrates' when your exersise becomes more intense and longer-lasting(usually more than an hour depending on your aerobic fitness).When glycogen stores are "used up"about the 21st or 22nd mile in a marathon u have"hit the wall"...A most umcomfortable feeling!
