A member asked:

I have white spots on 7 of my fingernails, some on more fingernails than others. what underlying diseases could cause this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very unlikely.: White spots on nails are normally due to everyday sorts of trauma, such as knocking your nail against a hard surface. They disappear over time. In the rare instance that they don't, a superficial fungal infection may be present, and that would require the attention of a dermatologist.
