Changes in cycle: The physical consistency of menstrual blood is honestly not very useful. It merely reflects how long the blood has been sitting at the back of the vagina. Blood goes through various degrees of decay as it sits in the uterus and vagina before being expelled.

Mucous: It's normal to have mucous lining the cervical canal. Sometimes if there's not a lot of blood and there's more mucous, the blood pulls mucous along with it as it comes down the cervix. It's completely normal to have this mucous, and likely doesn't mean anything harmful.
