What would cause a patient to bleed out during a laminectomy? given 45 transfusions

Surgical bleeding: The most common cause of surgical bleeding is "stitch deficiency". Other factors could be medications (aspirin, plavix, (clopidogrel) blood thinners, certain antidepressants, certain supplements (especially garlic, ginseng, and gingko)), unusual patient anatomy, or an undiagnosed hemophilia. A good hematologist should be able to discover the answer.

Very unusual: Do you mean you received 45 units of blood? I have never had to transfuse a single unit to a patient for just a laminectomy. Was there more to the surgery than a laminectomy? Was there a major blood vessel injury? I would discuss with your surgeon.
