Vasculitis: Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood vessels and both arteries and the veins can be affected. The inflammation is caused by a type of white blood cell that sticks to the blood vessel, creating a cascade of inflammation (and destruction). There are many types of vasculitis: only some have been linked to an initial infectious component (kawasaki's) but none have been found to be catchy.

No: Some forms of vasculitis follow an infection but vasculitis itself is characterized by inflammation rather than active infection. None of the vasculitides are contagious.
