Common : Anal instrumentation & anal intercourse can result in trauma to the mucosa and/or hemorrhoid veins causing bleeding. A tear of the mucosa can result in anorectal fissure. One risk of instrumentation is loss of such instrument into rectum that requires medical procedure or surgery to retrieve and/or treat trauma. Persistent or heavy bleeding and/or rectal pain requires an evaluation.
