Life: Life is precious because of the people living it. We are all transient visitors. What you make out of life is up to you. It would be important to seek help from a counselor if you are having problems coping. We can all make life better by helping each other. There are always better days. It is all up to you.

Good question: We don't know why life is the way it is. However, our attitude makes a big difference on how we interpret life. It's like that glib saying, when life hands you lemonades, make lemonade. If you find life cold, cruel & unforgiving, talk to your friends, family, religious leaders, counselors, family physician, etc. You're not alone. If you're depressed, talk therapy +/- medications does wonders.
