Crabs are fine, must: Be cooked . Their mercury level is low. Avoid any shellfish that are raw or undercooked. Do not eat any shellfish harvested during a red tide or when there are similar algae problems. Avoid any fish or shellfish that are obtained from areas near industrial pollution. Yes, good for you: All seafood contains essential fatty acids (EPA and DHA) necessary for normal feta; brain development. Some fish predators at the top of the fish-eat-fish food chain concentrate methyl-mercury (from our coal-burning power plants) to dangerous levels. Recent data is best, as we continue to contaminate. Several have a max/wk. See www.fda.gov/Food/FoodborneIllnessContaminants/Metals/ucm393070.htm
