Many possibilities: There are too many causes of vaginal rash to list w/o any more details. There are also several different versions of vagisil so w/o knowing which one you used, i can't tell what ingredient helped (or perhaps it was just coincidental). Bottom line, there's no way to figure out what it was. Next time, get checked out before treating. Or consider using condoms, if sexually active, to minimize std ris.

Since vagisil: Helps irritation due to candida ( yeast) that would be my bet. Good luck.
