By not eating: Often there are serious psychological difficulties underpinning anorexia that your doctor may be able to help with before anorexia becomes life threatening.

It is a complex: Bio-pscyho-social process and does not have any single answer . Not all anorexic people are the same . The problem with this kind of illness is that you can not run blood test or imaging study and find the cause . Talk to your psychiatrist.
Dr. Andris Radvany
26 years experience
By not eating: It is a type of eating disorder where patients are obsessed by weight and have dysmoprhic body syndrome (think you look fat even though your body mass index is <20 and you look like a prison camp survivor). Many abuse diuretics and laxatives and exercise compulsively. This is a serious psychiatric problem that can lead to severe medical complications and death.
