Yes: Many women aren't comfortable getting their pelvic exam and pap during the period, but with the new thin prep paps a full exam is fine.

Depends: If your bleeding is very heavy, it may be difficult to read your pap smear, even with the liquid based paps. However, if you only have light bleeding this should not be a problem.
