Criteria: 1. Oligoovulation - irregular ovulation. 2. Androgen excess - facial hair, acne. 3. Polycystic ovaries. Nih said all 3 in 1990, rotterdam said 2 of 3 was sufficient in 2003. Androgen excess pcos society said all 3 and ruling out other causes for androgen excess in 2006.

History and Exam: There are many different ways to make the diagnosis of pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Most commonly, the diagnosis is made when a patient experiences irregular menstrual cycles, multiple ovarian cysts/follicles on sonogram or evidence of high androgen hormones.
