Go slowly: Talk with your prescribing physician, of course. He or she will give you the advice and recommendations best suited for you. In my practice, with my patients, if they've been off Chantix for more than a few weeks, i start them off at a low dose and increase to therapeutic dosing.

Try The Full Dose: You can try a faster taper, even starting at 1mg twice a day (the full dose) but if you get agitated or nauseous go down in the dose. (0.5 x 3d, then 0.5 2xd for 4d then 1mg 2xd).
