As a tricyclic: Cyclobenzaprine is not chemically similar to benzodiazepines, which include drugs such as xanax, (alprazolam) ativan, valium, and klonopin. There should be no cross reactivity between cyclobenzaprine and benzodiazepines on drug testing. Cyclobenzaprine is chemically similar to tricyclic antidepressants, such as Elavil (amitriptyline). Some panels for substances of abuse do include tests for tricyclics.
