Fragile skin: As people age, the skin becomes more fragile. Outer layer of skin (epidermis) becomes thinner. Underlying protective fat layer also thins. Fragile skin leads to more skin injuries (e.g. Skin tears and breaks in skin) and increased risk of bacterial infection. It is important to keep skin well moisturized as dry skin is more prone to injury and infection.
