Pain medication: Narcotic pain medication should be used for short periods after an injury or surgery, days to a week or two. Try to use less pain meds every few days, follow up with appointments for your doctor or rehab if prescribed. Change to non-narcotic pain meds as soon as able. Take pain meds to make pain tolerable. If you take the medication to get rid of all pain, all the time, addiction is probable.

Addict and pain: Do not use more than prescribed! but bad doctors make their patients become addicted. If good doctors do not see you improving, they automatically ask specialists to join in the care for you to bring results to pain treatment. A good team of pain specialists always comprise of md + psychologist-psychiatrist. If pain does not subside, change from single doctor for a good team.
