NPH: Though the classic triad includes cognitive deficits, urinary incontinence, and gait problems, many patients do not present with all 3. Because other conditions can cause similar problems, most neurosurgeons perform additional testing prior to offering ventriculoperitoneal shunting, which is the conventional treatment of choice.

The three main symptoms to look for in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus include 1) Major Neurocognitive Disorder (often stated Dementia with loss of cognitive ability in domains of attention, language, memory, more). Impaired gait/Ataxia with a magnetic quality (feet sticking to the floor) and incontinence (loss of bladder/bowel functioning)
