HRS: refers to acute kidney injury that occurs in the setting of advanced liver failure caused by severe reduction of blood flow to the kidneys accompanied by excessive pooling of blood in the viscera. Symptoms & signs of HRS include low urine output, rising blood creatinine, no or low proteinuria, and low urine sodium excretion.
