Lactoferrin: Lactoferrin is a protein that is made by white blood cells. When the lactoferrin level in stool is elevated, that is an indicator of ^’ed white blood cells due to intestinal infection or inflammation. This might occur with bacterial infections of the GI tract, crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
