How do you know if cervical mucus is thin and stringy?

Self exam: You can insert one or two fingers inside the vagina and feel the cervix. The fingers will be a bit moist - if the moisture is watery and spins a thin thread between the fingers, then the mucous is thin and stringy. That indicates that ovulation is near.
