Depends: Does it hurt only when you touch it? Or is it a vague hurt? It is never appropriate to eat while laying down. Yes this could just be gas, if it is usually it should resolve within the day. If it is more and it continues then see your physician.

Chest pain: May be related to eating while lying down. Food can regurgitate and irritate your esophagus which is just behind the chest bone. Don't eat anything for three hours before bed time. Try Tums (calcium carbonate) for pain. If that doesn't help, see your md.
