No: As far as we know, hormone levels are not relevant during mania or hypomania. They are not causing bipolar symptoms. The symptoms of bipolar disorder are believe to be caused by dysregulation of neurotransmitters in the brain. Mood stabilizers such as lithium, depakote, lamotrigene, and topiramate are very helpful in stabilizing the mood swings.
