Isolation: Good hand washing with soap and water for 2 minutes after touching the patient with flu. Get flu vaccine. Avoid close contact, stay at least 3 feet away from the patient. If you are the patient, do the same practices, stay away from public until at least 1week after onset of your illness. It's time for flu vaccine now, every one.

Flu shot: Be sure to get your flu shot every year prior to the onset of the flu season but not too early so you will be protected throughout the entire flu season.

Tamiflu (oseltamivir): Can decrease symptoms by a couple days if it is the true flu. However, otherwise, tylenol (acetaminophen) for the aches and fevers, and stay as hydrated as possible. Monitor for any other secondary infections such as pneumonia or strep throat. Again, cannot stress hydration enough. Best of luck and hope you feel better soon!
