3% of the cancers: 23% of deaths are due to cancer, 3% of those are due to bladder cancer, so the risk of dying from bladder cancer is about 0.7%.

Varies with tumor: Most bladder cancers are urothelial carcinomas aka transitional cell carcinomas. Of these, low grade tumors are prone to come back, requiring procedures to remove or "dig out" the tumor (transurethral resection). However they have a low rate of invading and killing the patient. For tumors that are high grade and invasive, the risk is higher, especially if the muscle of the bladder is invaded.

Here are...: Statistics is just a reference, not necessary to exactly apply to an individual because many variables, e.g., age, Rx, health status, lifestyle, personal/social support, etc. are in play to decide ultimate individual outcome. But largely, the 5-yr survival for stage 1 (within bladder lining) is about >90%; stage 2 (into bladder muscle), >70%; stage 3, about 50%; stage 4, about 5%.
