Why does a doctor sign up for healthtap?

Can only speak for: Myself. It is a chance to "give back". I also enjoy it. I learn from reading input from fellow physicians.

Multiple reasons: Doctors have all kinds of reasons. Personally, i enjoy connecting with others here -- both patients and other physicians ; psychologists, etc. When a question is asked, I have a chance to research it before answering -- which helps me learn. Plus i learn from my colleagues' answers. Healthtap helps make medicine more accessible. And i like sharing the cookies i "bake" via answers ; tips. :-).

I love learning: And helping. As a solo practitioner in a world ruled by drug companies, i find the incredible variety of interventions used by my colleagues to be an excellent way to broaden my horizons and think outside the box. This makes me a better practitioner and puts me in a daily learning mode no other venue could provide. I love the global reach of this site, ; the giving nature of outstanding drs here. The camaraderie of the physicians on the site is second to none.

Community: I really like being a part of the healthcare community that is healthtap. I enjoy helping others live better lives, and i enjoy the interactions with colleagues. It's also exciting to be a part of the future of healthcare, which is shifting the focus even more to the individual patient at the center of it all.

Love of humankind: People go into medicine because they care about people and want to help in the most direct way possibly. Dentistry is an easier, faster way to financial success. And medicine itself no longer guarantees wealth but does promise many hassles and a fair amount of abuse. Here at healthtap, we can do what we do best, using our knowledge to help good people get the fact they need.

See below: Speaking for myself -- the site helps me open my horizons and not to get stuck in one mode. I like helping people and sharing what i've learnt. I enjoy my colleagues on the site -- always look forward to their insights. What i just said, is probably repeats in some ways what my colleagues said, but it just shows how much we have in common professionally.

We play well togethr: Apart from the gratification we get from all of the thank you notes you shower us with, we enjoy interacting w/ colleagues in different specialties around the us. Healthtap has helped us create a remarkably intimate ; supportive community -a cozy online lounge where we can get to know one another ; cheer each other on in sharing what we know w/ people from all over rhe world.
