Alcohol: Alcohol is not a blood thinner- it cause vasodilation.However if you drink significant amount, significant liver impairment/ liver failure/cirrhosis can happen. Besides, alcohol can affect the bone marrow and decease production of blood cells-inc platelet. Spleen enlargement can happen compensating to liver failure. Your risk for bleeding will be high when u have liver failure & low platelet level.
