Gentle is the key: A scar forms when there is healing of an injury to the tissues. Remember that with almost all wounds, healing continues for months as we change the stress on the tissues. A scar forms as a result and may have many different appearances and colors. If no itching after this long, it is unlikely but using a gentle soap to clean the area will minimize the risk.

Scar care: You can certainly use soap on the scar area. Itching is caused by dryness, and skin healing. You can use a soap with moisturizers in it, or just moisturize twice daily, not necessarily right after washing with soap. Avoid sun exposure to the scarred area, and wear sun screen. Vitamin e squeezed from a capsule can also be a good moisturizer, and act as a barrier to protect skin from drying out.
