Biopsy: Inflammatory bowel disease (ibd)consists of two forms of intestinal inflammation: ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease. Besides abnormalities of immunoglobulins production t lymphocytes play an important role in pathogenesis of ibd and t cell maturation in thymus associated with ibd.Thymoma and myasthenia gravis have been reported as possible association. Not normal to have mediastinal mass.

Could be either: The thymus tends to involute in adults and often is just a small vestige of an organ. It can however become active under certain circumstances. The most concerning issue would be a thymoma or tumor of the thymus gland. That is often seen in neurological conditions like myasthenia gravis. I would be curious to know how/why this was found.
