Possible but many : Explanations. White or yellow concretions in the tonsils are usually tonsilloliths or tonsil stones. Harmless although they can cause a foreign body sensation and contribute to halitosis. Fungus can appear in oral cavity and tonsils as thrush (white cottage cheese appearance). White exudate on the tonsils may be an indication of tonsil infection (viral or bacterial). See an ENT for thorough exam.
