A member asked:

What's breakthrough bleeding?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not cycle related: Every month most women get a period that lasts for about 5-7 days. Bleeding that is not related to this cycle is considered "breakthrough bleeding". This can be related to hormonal / cycle related problems, or related to anatomic problems, such as uterine polyps.
