Why would doctor want to do any biopsy?

To make a diagnosis: A tissue sample is used to identify the lesion. The pathologist looks at the tissue under the microscope and can tell if it is cancer or benign. If cancer then they also look at the tissue surrounding the lesion to make sure the entire lesion was removed.
