Unrelated: Most typically, menstruation can cause lower back pain, but not upper back pain. Therefore, it is likely that your upper back ache and breathlessness are unrelated to your menstruation. See your physician if symptoms persist and/or are severe.

Stress: Muscle spasm, myofascial pain syndrome, but otherwise i also can't see how they are related. Try taking something cold from freezer, like a bag of vegetables, and place on upper back. An anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen would help but will also make you bleed longer.
