Ophthalmologist: Endocrinologists can help you control your blood sugars, but can't do anything for your eye disease. All eye diseases are treated by ophthalmologists. If you have diabetes, you should be checked yearly by your eye md.

Depends: If you are known to be diabetic then you should be seeing an ophthalmologist yearly (sooner for problems). If you are not currently known to be diabetic you might want to see a medical doctor to rule out diabetes as a cause.

See an eye doctor: All diabetics should see an eye doctor at least annually for a dilated retinal examination. You should go immediately if you have any symptoms (blurry vision, floaters, etc.). An internist, family physician, endocrinologist, or another similar provider can help medically control your diabetes.
