Why do moles grow on my skin?

Moles: You may have seborrheic keratosis and not moles. The exact cause of seborrheic keratoses isn't known. They are very common and generally increase in number with age. They tend to run in some families, so inheritance may play a role. Moles also run in families and are genetic.

Moles: Moles or nevi are genetically programmed. At times one may be born with them or often they develop over a life time. The key is to have them checked for cancerous changes by a dermatologist , especially when there are changes in size, color, shape, or symptoms such as itch or pain develop.
