Forget it.: You do not need to take extra collagen. OTC supplements are poorly studied, not regulated well, and over-marketed. Why take a chance that future research will find that it may turn out to be a problem? Good for you for worrying about both you and your kiddo. Save your money, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, grains, and avoid high protein high and fat diets.
