A weak cervix: An incompetent cervix is a weakened cervix. It is usually characterized by painless cervical dilation. It usually seen between 15 and 22 weeks and patients will ultimately end up experiencing spotting, watery discharge, cramping or vaginal pressure prompting them to go to the hospital. When they arrive at the hospital they already have cervical dilation.
