No scientific basis: There are anecdotal reports of it improving symptoms of autism but there are no appropiriately controlled scientific studies to support its use.

Autism,Herbs.: Chromium picolinate is promoted as a nutrtional supplement. It's benefit in 'atypical depression', Insulin resitance in diabetics has failed to show any benefit comparing to a placebo(sugar pill) ! in high doses it caused bone defects in mice. I do not know if any one has studied it for the "treatment' of autism. There is no cure for autism. Early intervention with ot, st and medicine will help.
