Detailed anatomy: No imaging study has all of the information or answers, however nuclear medicine is especially helpful to identify physiology in the body. That is..The function. What nuclear medicine does not do well is look at the fine details of anatomy. Ct and MRI are great for looking at anatomy.

Spatial resolution.: Nuclear medicine studies typically are functional tests that study the body's physiology. Radiologic exams, ct, u/s and MRI are far superior for studying the anatomy.

Physiologic imaging: Nuclear scans involve ingestion, intravenous injection, inhalation, subcutaneous injection , instillation into bladder of isotopes, radiotracers, in order to see function of various organs of body, heart, lungs, bones, liver/spleen, stomach, thyroid, lymph system, kidneys, bladder, brain, parathyroid gland and gall bladder.Normal values for adults and children are known.Radiation involved.
