Mild trauma: Part of the cause may simply be the increased blood flow to the area during arousal, but you may also not be lubricating sufficiently, leading to increased irritation. If you are using a lubricant you might be sensitive to it, and latex condoms can cause allergic reactions. I have also seen reactions to the partner's deodorant soap!
