Local reaction: Swelling at injection site is a local reaction to the vaccine. It is not uncommon. It should go away on its own. A cool compress can ease the discomfort. Do let the doctor know about the reaction to the vaccine.

Happens: Tissue reaction to the injected medication, or the needle hit a blood vessel triggering a bleed/ hematoma. This should resolve over a few days if not see your family md.
