can human height decrease?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Jonathan Hyde
28 years experience Orthopedic Spine Surgery
Yes: As we age, there are changes that can occur to the skeleton, particularly the spine, which can lead to height loss. Disc degeneration with arthritis can lead to loss of vertebral disc heights. Osteoporotic spinal fractures can lead to vertebral bone heights. Spinal deformities, which can be related to the previously mentioned pathologies, can also lead to height loss.
