Photopsia, entopic: This is probably a normal variation, and sometime these small spot of light, which may dart across the vision, are called photopsia or entopic phenomenon. It is not really understood what causes this. A flash of light in the vision is more worrisome and could indicate the risk for a retinal problem. It you are unsure, a dilated eye exam will rule out any problems.
