Oxygen Therapy: Oxygen is most commonly delivered by flow rates such as liters per minute (l/min). Each l/min adds approximately 3% to the percentage of air that is oxygen. For example, at 2l/min the patient is receiving 6% additional oxygen. Normally, the ambient air is 21% oxygen, so this patient would be receiving 6+21 or 27% oxygen.
